Upgrade to Parallels 8 with Version 7 not installed

G'day and sorry for such a basic question. I just purchases the upgrade for Parallels 8. I just wanted to check the installation procedure. I purchased version 7 some time ago and for all sorts of reasons I never actually installed it. So I have a valid serial number for seven and a different one for the upgrade to 8. How do I proceed ... will the upgrade install to version 8 work or will it look for an installed version and bomb out.

Sorry guys if too basic or missed something .... an answer will save me some time I think

we definitely can live without ver.7 installed first
All you need is its serial number.
