I just upgraded from xp to Windows 7. One program keeps reverting back to the old XP virtual computer, and will not open on Win7 virtual. I want to delete XP, but don't want to run the risk of losing access to the program. Any suggestions?
Hi IndiraP, An upgrade installation of Windows 7 will keep your files, programs, and settings in place. A custom (clean) installation doesn't preserve your files, programs, or settings. If you plan to do a custom installation of Windows 7, be sure to back up your files and other info first. You'll also need to manually reinstall your programs. Please refer http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7#T1=tab01 to know more about Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. However, you can you can upgrade to Windows 7 and keep you Windows XP virtual machine, lease refer http://kb.parallels.com/115114 to know more.
Thank you very much, Ram for your help! Indeed, I just needed to re-install programs. Parallels customer service to the rescue in my case! I really appreciate your quick response and your suggestions. Thanks! Indira
