USB memory card "in use by other software"?

    Hello;

I assume this is a case of OS X somehow reserving access to a USB memory card I've plugged in. I get the Parallels dialog asking whether I wish this device to be shown in Windows XP, click on 'OK', and... get another dialog saying this device is in use by some other software.

To complicate matters, the memory card is actually a Nokia phone in data transfer mode.
    The exact sequence of events:

    1) plug phone to cable, cable to USB port
    2) Parallels shows dialog about showing device in Windows XP
    3) click OK
    4) some amount of seconds passes
    5) the second dialog comes up; memory/disk is not visible in Parallels, nor in OS X's Finder.

Any idea how I can prevent this from happening?

Stupid Nokia phones and their Windows only software...

    Thanks for your input,

    have you tried:

    1. connecting the phone without parallels running.
    2. start parallels when the phone is already connected to your mac
    3. choose from the parallels menu: Devices --> USB --> YourNokiaGSM

    Let us know what happens.

    Cheerz,

    Thomas

    Thomas,

thanks. This didn't work _reliably_, but some fiddling with the Device/USB/Nokia E70 menu option eventually got the device connected without dropping immediately.
Plugging in before starting Parallels didn't seem to make much of a difference.

    Cheers,

oki, but will it keep working now? I know with my own phone (samsung) I "can" connect it through parallels but usually do it through bootcamp to make sure mac os doesn't get in the way... my syncing works (way) better under bootcamp. So if you still have trouble getting it connected properly you might try that.

    Gluck !
