I am trying to attach a USB device to Windows XP. I looked through the posts, but couldn't find anything useful. If I go 'Parallels Desktop' -> 'Preferences' -> 'USB', I can see add the USB device, but I can only select "Computer" as an option. In the 'Virtual Machine' -> 'Configure' panel I do not even have a USB option as shown in many of the Knowledge Base articles. How do I enable the USB support in the VM?
You need to have a USB controller configured in your VM, please see - http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v4/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/index.htm and search for "Adding a USB Controller" Regards, Max
When I upgraded to PD4.0, I had to delete the USB controller, remove the option, then add back; it then worked as intended (until suspend/resume). See http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=22027
