Each time I start a VM I have to remove the Printer USB cable and then reconnect to get Windows to recognise the printer. On my MAC the printer is connected via the Network but the Windows scanning software I have insists on a USB connection. Is there a way of getting the VM to recognise the USB printer at each startup? According to the "Connecting USB Devices to a Virtual Machine" section in the Parallels Desktop documentation (use the Help menu to find it), you don't need to unplug the cable. Just use the USB submenu in the Devices menu or click the USB icon at the bottom of the virtual machine window. In Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> USB, you can make it so that the printer is always connected to the virtual machine. The documentation doesn't say whether or not the device will be disconnected from the Mac side if it's already plugged in when the virtual machine boots.
