Apparently I enjoy talking to myself . Some additional digging and I found that I can make the HASP key work once if I disable the USB Key device that failed to start and then enable it. This will cause the device to start and the HASP key device to load as well.
The problem is that occassionally it will hang the device manager when I re-enable the USB key. This problem is fatal and even though the machine is still alive, attempts to restart hang on the blue background after the shutting down dialog disappears. I have to reset the VM to get the machine back up and running. This does not appears to always happen (could be I went to fast in the test process).
I am not sure if any of this helps parallels in getting these devices to work reliable, but it is my hope!
