I have a parallels 5 pvm on a read-only disk, on a machine running 10.8. I "open with" the parallels 8 mounter, and it warns me about the read only filesystem, but it works and the windows drives appear in finder. I navigate and open files just fine. HOWEVER, when I copy a file from the mounted pvm over to a FAT32 or an apple disk, I get an I/O failure (-36). I also tried the "cp" command from the terminal, and the same thing happen. I am trying to recover my windows files from the intact drive of a dead mac. 1. What is going on here? 2. Why can I read the files just fine (open jpg's, open text files, etc) but I can't copy them. 3. What SHOULD I be doing to recover these files? Thanks!
