Variation on the Tools Not Installing Problem

Hi,

I upgraded from 4 to 5 using the demo. Everything is okay until the Tools Update process. The install tools menu appears, I click on install, then the menu disappears, but nothing happens. And windows locks up. Have run the machine overnight with no luck.

I am running Windows XP in Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro 5.2 with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and 4 GB of memory. I had installed VMFusion 3 prior to this, but after I ran into trouble I removed VM Tools. I also manual removed old Parallels Tools, set the number of CPU's to 1, removed anti-virus software, turned off shared window applications, and started the Tools update manually. Nothing works.

same problem, but I do get an error message (see attached image below).

I upgraded from 3 to 5. Things were going smoothly until the installer froze while updating the VM. After restart I can launch VM but cannot install Parallel Tools.

I tried reinstalling ver. 5 upgrade, but no luck. Any suggestions?
