I'm a new user and need to install a virtual com port, Sil Labs for CP210x USB to UART Bridge The VM Windows 10 did not support this by default. I loaded a driver and it seems to work, but I never saw the screen to add a serial port as suggested in the Knowledge Base article that pops up on this issue (is that an earlier version?) I did get it installed but setting the baud rate at either 57600 or 115200 in the Port setting and on my attached device they won't communicate unless that device is set for auto. Auto is not a good option as I will need to adjust this every time I move back and forth between Win and MAC. The Sil Labs driver I installed is 10.1.2.2115, is that the issue. I have also installed a FTDI USB to UART Bridge and a Prolific PL2303 - no issues found as yet. ??

yes, you can't mount any usb devices in DP except flash driver. I don't know if it's big sur's responsibility or PD's.
Maybe in future, usb devices will work in DP on big sur.

for me. can't not use if I follow your instruction. My usb connect one vibration meter can use on VMWARE. but on PD 16.5 can't use. PD 16.5 only detect other usb like flash drive.
