Hi I have Parallels build 3124 and it refuses to start, it gives the error: Virtual machine cannot be started because of the following problem: File /Users/danteno/Documents/Parallels/Microsoft Windows XP/winxp.hdd seems to be not a regular file and cannot be used as a hard disk image. I am running Mac OS x 10.4.11 I made a mistake recently and reinstalled the OS, I did the updates for the OS and copied my previous documents folder into the new installation. And tried starting Parallels but that error comes up, I reinstalled parallel and did the update to 3124 but still no luck. Is there anyway i can get my files from the .hdd? I have really important document there and would like to get parallels running again. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance
Hello, please try to do the following: 1. Make a backup copy of the Virtual machine before the steps below. 2. Open .HDD package and move the .HDS file to the Mac Desktop. 3. Change the name of the .HDS file to the .HDD file. 4. Uninstall the current version of Parallels using the Uninstall Parallels Desktop appl. from the original package you used to install the current PD. 5. Restart the Mac. 6. Install Parallels Desktop. It's recommended to use build 3214. 7. Restart the MAC. 8. Create a new custom virtual machine and specify the path to the .HDD file in the virtual HDD options. 9. Start the VM and install Parallels Tools. Best regards, Stacey
