So I sold my Mac but I still have a license for Parallels and I also bought windows 8 within Parallels to create the virtual machine. My question is, can I get windows from within parallels and install it on a new PC. If so, how? I have a new PC and need windows and would be extremely disappointed if I have to buy another windows 8. Thanks.

    Hello Regnarts,

Parallels is a Virtualization software which allows you to run Windows and other Guest OS on it. Parallels Desktop for Mac does not include Microsoft Windows.

You have to install Parallels Desktop 9 first and then you can create a Virtual Machine to install Windows.

Follow the steps suggested at: http://kb.parallels.com/116989 to install Parallels Desktop 9.

As you said, if you have used Windows 8 already and if you have the installation disk or .iso image file,

Please follow the steps as suggested at: http://kb.parallels.com/4729 to create a Virtual Machine and install Windows.

If you don't already have a Windows installation disc or .iso disk image, you can purchase Windows on a DVD disc from many retail stores that sell software or online from retailers such as Amazon.com or the Microsoft Online Store

You need the Windows License (non OEM) key and the Windows 8 installation media (.iso?) burned to a DVD or USB to install in a PC.
