I notice that the Vista Experience index rating (Control Panel/Performance Information and Tools) always fails with the message:-

"Cannot complete assessment.........due to error being reported from the operating system, driver, or other component"

Not a big deal and Vista seems to work quite well, but when I did a trial with VM Ware I did not get this message and it completed the rating.

    Anyone know any more?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hello,

You are right. It's not a big problem. We found little bug which prevented Window Experience Index from being counted properly.

You can check this fix in next free update for Parallels Desktop.

    Hello Paralleagle,

The issue has been fixed in 5160 and it is not supposed to come up in 5582. Did you try uninstalling Parallels Desktop and reinstalling then?

    Best regards,
    Xenos

Restart after the un-install, then again after the install. OS X tends to behave better with a restart as anything queued for the next start-up gets run.

Well I tried recommended uninstall/reinstall/reboots but Vista was still unable to complete it's Index rating for the graphics. It appeared to be a graphics driver problem; I found this in a log written after running the Index:

"The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because WDDM is not in use"

I tried with both the "Experimental Shaders" enabled and disabled with the same result. Index values for both graphics is 1.0, while the values for the other parameters are higher.

Is it possible that this is a problem in OSX Tiger but not in Leopard?

Perhaps... Was there an issue in 5160 or 5580?
