Hi Guys, First post here. I am installing Vista Home Basic under Parallels Desktop. First off it is a legal copy of windows vista. And I have installed it before, and it was in english. I insert the disc into my mac, and Parallels Desktop automatically detects it and asks me if I want to install Windows vista, which i do. Chose VM name etc and click continue, The setup is in german which I can not understand. It seems to go through the correct procedure such as installing files, expanding files etc. I assume it says that. It then shows a dialogue box saying "in german" that the language could not be installed. This the installation fails. is there a way to change the language of the setup/installation in parallels before it installs vista. Thanks in advance.
Hi Thomas, We suggest you to contact Microsoft and get the .iso image file. Once you have the .iso image file, refer to this KB article to install Windows Vista.
I just had the same problem. The reinstallation DVD contains Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit with SP1 in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. If you let Parallels identify the DVD as Windows Vista, it uses a special installation procedure with less user interaction than a regular Windows install, so Parallels select the first language from the disc, in this case German. What I did was select DVD installation in Parallels 10, then at the next screen check the option "Continue without a source". With this option the DVD auto started and I was able to do a normal Windows installation, where it ask the language, so I selected English and everything is working great. I'm updating the installation at this moment. Hope this helps.
