I used for a couple of weeks Vista Ultimate under Parallels RC2 and RC3... now I went back to Xp.
In my opinion Vista is a terrible operating system, always asking for anything that you'd lie to do... and under Parallels, croppy sounds and SLOW (on my MacPro 2,66 5gb ram) compared to XP.

I'd like to THANKS Parallels team for making such a good product... with Direct 3D on Video and a better support for Vista, I think it'll be perfect!

You can disable the "always asking permission" feature it's called User Account Control. As for croppy sounds, that could be that it's using the wrong driver. Vista is picky about sound drivers, I've found. But yes it would be better(visually) with direct 3D... now if only it was a worthwhile OS...

give it 12 months and Vista will be much better
    meanwhile
if it ain't broken don't fix it

WinXp SP2 is fully supported for now

the same for Mac OS 10.5
stay with 10.4.* unless you can afford to update all your other software
