VMware migration issues

So we all know what happened to VMware Fusion.

I was finally at my wits' end and decided to start a Parallels trial because USB device passthrough stopped working in guests.

However, even after the installation of the guest additions, I still get the infamous "Configuring <VM name>. Preparing to configure your virtual machine." on startup and shutdown of any VM.

When the guest additions are not installed, I still get the same message on VM start, but no longer on shutdown.

With the tools installed, the resolution of the VM does not match what appears in display properties.

These seem like bugs...
