    Hi John & All Members,

I'm running Window XP on Parallels 3.0 build 5608 in Mac OS X Version 10.5.4
And 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor / 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

The Parallels 3.0 build 5608 which is reinstalled on September when I'm get crashed.
    Thread details : http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=21806

My problem is after the reset of Parallel the web browser speed goes slow down increasingly,
it take more than 5-8 min to open a single web site with IE or Firefox,
and the speed of download with BitComet also goes very slow such as 5-10 KB/s.
Actually I'm using Parallels Desktop just for downloading, there's no extra software installed.
I've been try the Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions but it seem to be nothing changed.
So is there any setting and works I can fix it ?
Does anyone have same experience can share with me ?

However I would like to ask can I install or launch VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop in one Mac OS ?

    Thanks for your attention,
    BenNovello

About slow network please see http://kb.parallels.com/en/4809
Basically yes, you can , but several users, reported Mac OS crash several times, we established test case, but on lab macs, there was no crash

    Hi John,

It make some change, but just about 30% only, it still up to 5 min to own a single website,
Do you have others can help ?

By the way if I installed NOD32 Antivirus in Parallels, does the operation and network seed go down ?
How about if i set the Memory Limit up to 512 by manually, will it be better ?
And what is the meaning of the Virtual Memory Preallocation ?

Thanks for your help John, I can't imagine my Parallels without your help,
and I'm so appreciate your professional knowledge as well ? Thank you very much !

Yes, try to disable and check speed

Memory preallocation is to allocate memory for VM, before VM is started

    Hi John,

So, if I enable the Memory Preallocation, what kind of effect does it make ?

And regarding the network slow down, do you have further information share with me ?
Because VM still take up to 5 min to open a single website ?
How about if i set the Memory Limit up to 512 by manually, will it be better ?

    Thank you for your attention,

    My suggestions.
Memory limits doesn't matter in this case, it is only matter when you trying to increase VM performance, try 1 GB for VM,
Memory preallocation is dealing with Mac OS level kernel mechanic how to assign memory for particular process, if it set memory is reserved when Parallels Desktop is set , it is to preserve memory from occupying by another processes

I mean what network mode is selected for Vm, Shared Networking or other,
You can check it in Configuration Editor- Network Adapter 1 page
(Start Parallels Desktop holding Command key)

Try to switch to Bridged Ethernet (just make sure you assigned corrected IP, if your network configuration is set for manual IP) and check, if it still slow, problem is not Parallels side, but on router

    Hi John,

Thanks for your help and sorry to keep you long because I'm quite busy in this week.

Hm, in case of Bridged Ethernet is slow, the possible situation is, that there is some traffic limitation is set on router, in case on Brdiged Ethernet, there is no limitation on Parallels side, please check router settings

Probably you need to check router documentation
