I am a little unclear on this still and it seems the available documentation lacks enough information from an architectural and infrastructure point of view to give me a clear answer.

We are designing our solution around 3 load balanced terminal servers and one server sitting in our dmz to run the web portal and forward client requests to the farm (client gateway) for a total of 4 servers? I am okay with setting up the farm and adding the 3 servers to it, however I am a little unclear about the web portal.

    1) Does it also need the TS Agent installed?
    2) How do I configure it to act as the client proxy and forward the client request to one of the 3 servers in the farm to run the application for the user?

I do not want to install published apps on this server or use it for serving the apps. The intention is to utilize this server only as the web portal so it can run

    Hi there,

The Web Portal only lists the available applications and does not take care of forward connections to the Publishing Agent.

What you need is the following...

    1) Install a 2X Gateway in the DMZ (Could be the same machine of the IIS)

    2) Set the 2X Gateway to forward "2X Publishing Agent Requests" to your
Publishing Agent. (Open 2x Console -> 2x Client Gateway -> Advanced -> 2X Publishing Agent)

    3) From the 2X Web Portal add the farm (Pointing to the 2X Gateway in the DMZ)

    4) If the users from the internet cannot see the IP of the 2X Gateway in the DMZ, you can set the public IP in the Farm-> Advanced Settings-> Override 2X Client Gateway IP & set DEfault connection mode to "Regular Gateway"

    Nixu
