    Hi all,
I've been setting 2X AppServer/LoadBalancer on 3 of my test VM's, using Server 2003 Enterprise, and have been very satisified with the results, however I am not able to get the web server portion working. I can even connect across the internet via SSL, but when i point my browser at the server hostname, I do not get a web interface.

I have tried all the standard things: I have IIS installed and the default page moved over to port 81 (and running), I have completely uninstalled and tried again, I have even blown out the OS completely reloaded from scratch. I have also tried with Server 2003 Standard, same results.

When I go to the http://localhost I get the standard IIS "Under Construction" page. So, it is properly redirecting to port 81, and hitting IIS, but, there's no sign of the web portal.

    Help!!!

If you check the 2X WebServer in IIS, it needs to use a different port which I think defaults to 82.

    Try connecting to:

    http://localhost:82/2XWebPortal/Logon.aspx

Not guaranteed as I don't know if you used all the default ports during the installation.

Hi all, thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that does not seem to be the case. I know I MUST be missing something very forehead-slapping. I checked IIS (see first screen shot below) and it does not show any sign of the 2X Webserver. The second screen shot is the standard IIS "Under Construction" page that I get when I connect to the server on either port 80 or 81.

Also to reiterate, i have repeated this exact problem on multiple servers, with different flavors of Server 2003, on clean installs, so it is not just an oddity that will be resolved by installing a fresh OS; I'm missing something!

I am using the latest "Free AppServer" download from the 2X site, which is (in the Help menu..) v6.1 (build 467).

I have tried it both with the 120 day evaluation, and with entering the 5 user key, same results.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed!!

This could be your problem. We have a 1 user license installed, so not sure if the free version is different.

In our IIS, we have a second web site named '2X Web Server' which was added when we installed the Portal software. This is identical to the Default Web Site apart from using port 82 instead of 80.

I don't work for 2X, I just recall having similar problems when we installed and maybe they will see that I am helping them out and in return they will help me with my problem.

Did you have a separate install for the Web Portal? the manual shows that there is a separate one, however what it looks like is that the documentation is slightly out of date, and the Web Portal was combined into the AppServer-LoadBalancer package, because during my install of 6.1, it advises you that you have to have your IIS on a different port, and they suggest 81 - I have made sure I make that change before installing AppServer.

I know i must be missing something stupid!

Ok, i figured it out. 2X, PLEASE make this clear in the documentation!!! --

the Web Access Portal is a seperate download, from http://downloads.2x.com

The reason it took me so long to find this is, When you go thru the homepage and click on the Free AppServer, and go through the registration, the Web Access Portal download is not there, and the setup makes it seem like it is part of it.

    Resolved :)
