I'm wondering if this function resets the machine to the most recent snapshot (if there is one) or if this basically wipes the machine as if it's been formatted, ready for installation of a OS. Pretty important distinction I'd say; I couldn't find this in the help file (I looked around as well as searched) nor a search on the web nor in this forum.

I recently migrated a Windows 10 machine from Virtualbox to Parallels and quite enjoyed being able to reset to the beginning of the current session or snapshot in VirtualBox, and am not sure how things work with Parallels. I should probably figure out how to automatically backup my virtual machines on a regular basis though.

Image below is showing where I found the command, this was done in coherence mode but it's available in the regular / default mode in the menu bar as well via Actions > Reset.

Hi, if some program error has caused your virtual machine to hang, you may wish to reset the virtual machine.

Pardon me Marla, I looked at that page when I did my search using duckduckgo, it looked outdated as Version 4 is referenced in the URL string, so I did not include it in my original post. More importantly, it does not clearly answer my question; what does resetting reset to? What is lost, the session, the snapshots, the whole virtual machine?

    Thanks.

@AdamL2 Resetting the virtual machine is similar to resetting a physical computer by pressing its reset button, so any programs running in the virtual machine may be adversely affected. Snapshots will be saved and you will be able to restart the session after resetting.
