It's been about 2 weeks since I've moved from VM to Parallels. I was completely stoked at how much faster Parallels was compared to the competition. Most times though, I reboot in to Boot Camp because it's just overall easier to connect to network devices with the work I do. The first couple boots from Parallels were great but it seems that the more I used Boot Camp, the longer it takes Parallels to boot Windows 7. I'm getting close to 10 minutes before I can use Windows. So what's going on in the background here? Is this normal based upon the way I'm using it? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?
Likely OSX is paging because it doesn't have enough RAM, open Activity Monitor.app while running the VM and see if you are look on free RAM (the green slice), if you are, try closing all other apps and launch the VM again. Or... You can just quit Safari or any other browser as they tend to consume a lot of RAM before starting the VM.
