Ready to buy either a MacBook Pro or Air Haswell Laptop. Looking at the following options: - MacBook Air 8GB/512 GB HD - MacBook Pro 8GB/512 GB HD - MacBook Pro 16GB/256 GB HD Want to futureproof the PC with Parallels. Does the Macbook Air have enough power for Parallels? If I go MBP, better to go with the 16GB? Would 256 GB be enough. The computer will be used for basic home business (Office) and basic home multimedia (pictures, videos) - no gaming
Any of these configurations will work perfectly for your Parallels Desktop VMs. The default size of the virtual machine is 64 GB (you can change it), so even 256 GB should be enough. 8 GB of RAM should be enough for basic home applications, 16 GB is better for 3D apps, games, etc. I would personally go for MacBook Pro 16GB with 256 GB SSD HD, but it's really up to you.
