Which UBUNTU distribution?

    I assume the i386, but just want to be sure.

    All I need is the .iso file to get started?

    Yes. For example to get started with Ubuntu 5.10 you just need real CD or .iso image like this "ubuntu-5.10-install-i386.iso".

    6.06 i386 LiveDVD worked for me.
