I have been a Citrix customer for over 15 years and am having some issues with the latest product XenDesktop 7.1 As a result I am considering a move to an alternative solution at the next renewal and have a couple of questions:- Q. Has anyone who moved from Citrix to 2x found this product reliable and easy to manage? What are your comments? Q. Are the usual tools such a remote shadow, process kill, scheduled restart etc all there? Q. How well does 2x work with graphics intensive applications? Is there an equivalent Citrix HDX component? Q. In regards to remote access what handles this and can I deploy 2 factor authentication? Q. There seems to be several 2x components that I might need, such as load balancing. Since I need to deliver hosted server desktops and true VDI over multiple servers plus the option for RAS what do I need? Q. I uses VMware vSphere 5.1 as the hypervisor. Does 2x have the ability to create cloned VMs similar to the Machine Creation services from Citrix? Q. With Server 2012 R2 I did consider just using native RDS. What advantage has anyone found using 2x on top of this? Thanks.
If you need HDX the only option is RemoteFX but RemoteFX need Hyper-V server so you will need to change from VMware to Hyper-V if you want to use 2X
Remote Desktop Session Host supports software only RemoteFX and as such will work on any hypervisor. For individual Windows VMs and RemoteFX you need Hyper-V.
