I have legacy applications running on Windows 2000 server accessed via Citrix Metaframe. Also have Windows 2008 R2 servers for everything else except legacy applications. All clients are currently XP Pro, using Citrix client to access published apps on 2000 server. At this time we cannot migrate 2000 legacy apps to 2008, thus must be able to access apps on 2000 server. New PC's are only offering Windows 7, XP downgrade no longer available. Will 2x allow me to install 2x on 2000 server or 2008 server and access the applications on the 2000 server? Assuming this can somehow work, can the 2x client be installed on Windows 7 to access the published app without have to use XP mode?
Hi there, current 2X Software products do NOT support Windows 2000 Server OS anymore, so I would advice to even do NOT tests this within a production environment. The same issue I see with your current environment because of the missing support from the OS vendor Microsoft, but I guess I understand your application issue here. Maybe there is a better way - a official supported one - for you to move forward if you combine the 2X solution with another vendor or if you combine the use of two concepts in the 2X AS. Did I catched right that your applications that are currently running on the 2000 OS can also be run on a XP workstation OS? Thanks,
The above is incorrect, please check the system requirements on the following link: http://www.2x.com/docs/en/manuals/html/ ... quirements
Wow, sorry that I gave wrong statement here. It's really cool, that 2X Software still support Windows 2000 Server! I wonder that you guys support this. Anyway, I think it should still be a question if it is advisable to continue using this OS in a production environment. You guys may run into issues with the customers where help from the vendor may needed. Thanks a lot again to lead me back to the right facts!
