I'm looking at getting a new MacBook for work but some of the programs I need to use are only available for Windows. Parallels looks like an ideal solution but how do I know if my programs will work? I don't have a mac yet so downloading a trial version of Parallels won't help and I don't want to go and buy a Mac just to find out. Is it fair to assume that if my programs currently work on Windows that they will work equally well on Windows running on Parallels? Are there any limitations I should be aware of? Will Windows/Parallels have access to all of the ports on the MacBook - USB, HDMI etc?
Hi, A virtual machine is a virtual computer which works much like any other PC. Parallels Desktop Virtual Machine has its own devices (e.g. CPU, network adapters, sound card), which are virtual as well. You can install almost any operating system (including Windows) into Parallels Desktop Virtual Machine; You can run programs designed to run in those operating systems inside Parallels Desktop Virtual Machine. So Parallels Desktop Virtual Machine will not have any limitations and can run all the programs that are designed to run on a real PC.
