Win 10 Upgrade asking for Key even though I my Win 7 installation is genuine

    Hi. Everyone, I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a Mac, upgraded Parallels to Vers 11, installed Windows 7 and attempted to upgrade to Win 10 following all of the instructions. When everything finally downloaded and installed, I was asked for a Win 10 key. Isn't the upgrade to Win 10 free? Did I waste my time with the Win 7 installation? Please help.
