When creating a NEW VM, 24h2 is downloaded from now on, it is version 26100.1742.240909 at this point in time
I have 2 different VMs, previously on Beta channel (Insiders), now switched to Release Preview. Running 23H2 on both machines. If I run PC health check, it says that windows 24h2 is not supported on apple silicon. I thought PD20 was supposed to fix this. Please assist.
What's the state of Window 11 24H2 on arm64 via Parallels? I mean, it's out all over the place, but Windows 11 23H3 on Parallels, the one I use, doesn't show any sign for getting upgraded whatsoever.
24H2 running here with Parallels 20 on M1 Macbook Air. I updated by editing Group Policy, following the guidance elsewhere on this forum, though observed that one then needs to Reset Group Policy.
I run Win 11 Pro Release, Beta, Dev, and Canary on Parallels 20 and they are all 24H2. I've only had problems updating these VMs when MS does something strange (which isn't that unusual). What version of Parallels are you running and on what hardware?
Really? Did it updated for you from 23H2 to 24H4 or did you installed 24H2 right from an iso? I installed an 23H2 iso in Januar and have actiavted it, but no dice updating to 24H2. My current windows is the following: Edition Windows 11 Pro Version 23H2 Installed on 23 Jan 2024 OS build 22631.4317 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1041.0 And I user Parallels Version 20.1.0 (55732) on an 14" MacBook Pro M3 MAX(ed out).
Here's what I'm using at present (these are all updates, no fresh installs): Beta-- Version 24H2 Installed: 10/24/24 OS Build 26100 2033 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.23.0 Dev-- Version 24H2 Installed 10/15/24 OS Build 26120.2122 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.31.0 Pro Release Version (Intel Production laptop) 23H2 Version (ARM 64) 24H2 OS Build 26100.2033 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.23.0 I had to pull the Release version from the software archive but the official release date was: Servicing channels VersionServicing option Availability date 24H2 General Availability Channel 2024-10-01 23H2 General Availability Channel 2023-10-31
I'm not sure why my above message posted before I finished, but there's most of the information. If you have the time (and disk space) you might want to try a fresh install. See this MS notice: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...631-4317-c1aba548-fc93-420e-855f-8594157c3e9e This shows that 22631 has reached end-of-life and will receive no more upgrades. Doesn't explain why you didn't get the update, however. The group I'm in gets notices when there are updates, changes, upgrades, etc so that may explain why we're on 24H2 already. You'll notice they have changed the release numbering from 22631 to 26100. Are you running Parallels as a personal program to run Windows on Mac or is it part of an organization? If personal, you might want to do a reinstall (or a second install) to verify that you're getting the 24H2 release.
I run Windows 11 pro since about 2 years and did not get an upgrade to 24H2 until today. Signed in für insider preview yesterday, but still no upgrade to 24H2. Today suddenly upgrade was proposed without editing group rules or changing anything else. Now downloading Windows 11 Version 24H2 on this machine, download is slow, still waiting. Yesterday tested installing new Windows virtual machine, it is Windows 11 version 24H2, running without problems. System is Macbook Air M1.
Creating a new registry key "Windowsupdate" in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows with the three value as shown here seems to have worked for me...
Update: I can confirm the update installed fine and I was able to the delete the key (which in turn also of course deletes all the sub-key values), and restarted and no problems to report so far.
I just checked on my installed version of Win 11 Pro - Release and no Windows Update key in HKLM.... etc. I have no way to go back and see if those keys were created in the original install, but the original update and the new install I just did both gave me 24H2. Nice job on the registry mod. (I'm just going to copy that and save for the time that Win 11 won't update.) Incidentally, there are more reports of Install error 19001000 on updates in the Insider versions. I iniitially had one in the update to Canary 27729, but I just reran the update and it worked the second time. I'm a really big fan of consistency , thanks MS.
I posted replies to both messages and Parallels seems to have decided you don't need to read them. Oh well, back to VMWare in two months.
Followed RichardR21 screen shots. Update was immediate and successfully upgraded from 22H2 to 24H2 with no issues. I'm using the latest Parallels on a Mac Studio M2 Max with 64gb. The update was very fast.
Uh, I went into registry editor and there is no Windowsupdate ! All others are there. What to do now?
