Hello, the problem is installing WIN XP in Parallels Desktop. 1. The WIN XP install disk is in loaded DVD drive. 2. After (1) collecting info, (2) the dynamic update, and (3) preparing the install, the step of (4) installing Windows has halted. 3. The message reads that setup will complete in approximately 36 minutes, which appeared yesterday, so (5) finalizing setup has not occurred yet. What are my next steps? Thank you in advance for your time. My regards, Jim
Brand new IMAC 3.06. Wasted about seven hours trying to load XP via Parallels 4. XP consitantly stalls during the process. Stops dead around 39 or 36 or 35 minutes to go. I tried every conceivable way i could think of to load it but now I'm ready to give up and just keep XP on my old PC. Any constructive ideas would be welcome.
Yes, I found the following in technical support:In configuration increase CPU to 2. I also increased the RAM to 1000. This I did after scrapping previous attempts and rebooting. Success, after a lot of time and perseverance!
Thanks for the tip. Those changes let me install Windows. Parallels' difficulty let me test the competitors first. Let's see how Parallels stacks up now.
