win8 laptop can i convert hdd to vm image

    my old laptop has win8 x64 installed. I now have a macbook with parallels installed/running. I wanted to export my laptop win8 image on the hdd and import as a vm. possible? can I install base win8 then restore from backup of win8 laptop? any thougts any suggestions appreciated.

    There's an application called Parallels Transport, that you can download from Parallels that takes care of migrating an existing pc to a vm. The User Guide has all the info on this.

    There will be an issue with the Windows license, since it's likely an OEM license, which means it will ask for reactivation when you launch it on different hardware (the VM is different hardware for Windows), and MS may not let you reactivate since OEM licenses are non-transferable.
