    Hi guys...
I have installed win98 as a guest host on my MacBook Pro using the trial version of parallels (I intend to buy the full release when pay day arrives :))
I am trying to establish a network between the two.

I have enabled Windows file sharing for my user account in OSX, but when i go to try an connect to the network using the provided ip address ie: \\192.168.0.3\mynamehere in "Map Network Drive" in Win 98, I keep getting an incorrect password error...

I am definitely using the correct password.

I have tried using my Mac admin user, and have also created a new user to test the scenario, but to no avail.

Is there anything I am missing? I have followed all the steps in this guide but am stil having issues... Any ideas much appreciated?

I now see that in OSX where I edit my user profile, i only get the option which says "Allow this user to administer this computer" I dontr actually get an option which says "Allow this user o login from Windows" Could this be the issue? Why would I not be seeing this option?"

You need to enable the user to log in from Windows in the OS X Windows Sharing preference panel.

    Open OS X System Preferences
    Select Sharing
    Enable Windows Sharing.
    Highlight it
Click the button on the right called Accounts … to open a list of users
Enable access for the Windows user name
Also ensure that the Windows 98 networking is set up to be in the Mac's default workgroup, called WORKGROUP.

    Hi....thanks for the reply .....

I have done everything you mentioned, and can now see my mac as well as my desktop pc (connected over airport) from within the Win98 VM .... when i try to access one of the computers, I get the following error message:

    Code:
    \\MyMac is not accessible.
    No permission to access resource.

I am using the same login that i use to login to my mac to login to the VM. This login is an admin account. Could this be the issue?
