Does anyone experience their windows 11 VM freezing after sitting idle for a few minutes? This happens to me every day and gets very annoying having to shut down the VM through the activity manager and in the process losing work that was done since the last save. I have found no solution so far.
After a year with this issues I have found the issue on my windows 11 instance, there is a power plan created for by Parallels and under advanced settings -> Hard disk -> Turn off hard disk after -> On battery = 0. Even if the computer was I plugged in, this had effect. Update to 999999 or create a new PowerPlan with High performance. Its been working now for several days...
Hello, For us to further troubleshoot this issue, kindly collect a technical report (right-click Parallels icon in Dock > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and provide us with the report's 9-digit ID in reply to this post. Thanks
Greetings, Thank you for the provided Technical Report ID. From the Technical Reports, we noticed that your Windows Virtual Machine is having several corruptions (15 in total). Please try to do the following and check if the issue is fixed: 1. Check the integrity of the system components: 2. Press Command + R to open a Run dialog box. Then, type CMD and then press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER. 3. Execute the command below: Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth 4. When the operation is completed (take a screenshot), execute the command below: SFC /SCANNOW 5. When the SFC scan is completed (take a screenshot), restart the Virtual Machine. 6. Once the Virtual Machine is restarted > Click on Actions on top of Mac menu > Select Quit Travel Mode. 7. Reinstall Parallels Tools (Parallels icon > Actions > Reinstall Parallels Tools). 8. Reboot Windows and try to reproduce the issue. If performing the above steps still didn't fix your issue, please follow the steps below: Please follow the steps below for the creation of a new Windows 11 Virtual Machine: A. Open Parallels Desktop > Click on the Parallels Icon || on Top of Mac Menu bar > Select Control Center. B. Click [+] "plus" button in Parallels Desktop Control Center to start a new virtual machine installation. C. Select the option to "Get Windows 11 from Microsoft" from the Installation Assistant > Click Continue. D. Select Install Windows and wait until the installation is complete. E. Launch the virtual machine and try to reproduce the issue. If the issue does persist in the new Virtual Machine, collect an additional technical report (click the Parallels icon on top of the mac menu bar > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and send the report's 9-digit ID along with screenshot taken from step 4 and 5 in a reply to this e-mail. Thanks!
hi @Alec2, have you been able to resolve this issue? I am dealing with this issue for a year. There are some knowledge articles that shows how to fix the black screen (or freezing) after being idle but the issue still persists even after applying those.
I'm having the same issue ever since upgrading to Parallels 18. I'm getting a black screen on office apps (mostly Excel) that mostly requires a shut down of the app and restart. V annoying and been going on for 8 mths. The suggestion above seems to require a reinstallation of parallels from what I see - ouch.
Hello! In order to proceed with further investigation, kindly provide us with the below information: 1. Reproduce the issue. 2. Collect a technical report (right-click Parallels icon in Dock > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and send the report's 9-digit ID in a reply. Thank you!
I'm experiencing this issue sometime, after a Mac sleep, on wakeup the VM simply does nothing, the screen show how it was leaved before the sleep Tech report is 469615239

Hi MatsL, Thanks for sharing the solution, but I can't find the option you mention in any place, could you be more precise and tell us where to find: Which settings? Parallels, Virtual machine, MacOS, or windows one? Thanks in advance
Im using Parallels on a MC Book Pro and using the latest version but had same issue on previous versions. You have to edit the Power Plan on the Windows 11 VM, see attached screenshot
I've just solve this issue by switching to Parallels power plan in Control Panel -> Power (some default power plan was active instead, perhaps, after another windows update).
