    Hi,

I have this issue since I've upgraded from version 7 to 8. Now I've upgraded to version 9 and I cannot use Windows 7 VM. After I've installed parallels tools, Windows doesn't started (after login, the Windows starting message keeps forever waiting) When I start Windows in safe mode and I uninstall parallels tools, Windows starts normally (well, without drivers installed and obviously no network connection so it's not nice at all) Then after installed parallels tools again, the problem I've describe before, returns...
I also notice that the coherence mode is not available so I think there is another problem there... I've read that Windows installation might be broken. The problem is that I try to repair Windows but I cannot start from my dvd drive. When I connect it, my MacOs recognize the device but when Parallels starts, the drive it's expulse and parallels cannot connect to it (obviously)
Please help me. I've already lost many hours trying to repair my VM and I am very upset about it. The only way I can use Windows is in safe mode...
My Mac is a Macbook pro retina display with OS X version 10.9.2.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem. I just updated my Parallels 9 to 9.0.24217 and after it updated the Parallel tools, and rebooted my windows 7 VM, windows won't finish booting. It just says 'Please Wait'.

I've tried safe mode and done a recover back to prior to the tool install and windows boots fine. Reinstalling the parallel tools it hangs again. So right now I'm forced to run without the parallel tools which is not ideal.

    Hi RobOfTheNorth,

Please follow the steps outline below:

    1. Reboot your Mac.
    2. Launch Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility.
    3. Select Macintosh HD on the left panel and click Repair Disk permissions.
    4. Start Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows VM.

I tried this. Now when I try to install Parallels Tools I get a dialog that says there was a problem and to try rebooting and then reinstalling. My windows will now not boot in normal mode (note that Parallels Tools is not installed) - I login and just get a blank screen. I can still login in safe mode.
