I've had Parallels 8 installed for about 2 months, with a new install of Windows 7 64bit at the same time. Two days ago I had a cascade of events. It started with a prompt in Windows that my password had expired. I never entered a password, but went in and "changed" it and checked the "Password never expires" box on some user control setting somewhere. That seemed to work fine.

A day later I had a strange, hard crash in Windows (complete freeze). I had to restart my laptop by holding down the power button. On start up, on the Mac side, I had no backlight on the screen, but got that to resolve itself somehow. This was also the first time restarting Parallels since changing the password and I got a prompt saying "User name and password are incorrect". this seems to be a known issue but I can't click the OK button and move on because the cursor is totally frozen, keyboard is frozen and I can only abort the startup by ctl+alt to free the cursor and clicking shutdown in the Parallels menu bar.

Support worked remotely for 2 hours reinstalling Parallels, building a new VM, changing boot flags (?), etc. and nothing changed. I don't even know if this is a Mac problem, Windows problem or Parallels problem. Any advice would be great. My old Windows XP VM works fine.
