Today I tried to connect to my network via my Bridged Connection on my Ethernet Adapter. I setup the ip do be dynamic and received the below info on it. So it is giving me valid ip address info but yet I cannot ping the network devices. I have tried a manual Ip address and it does not work either. I restored to a previous date with no luck. I tried repairing the connection. I uninstalled and reinstalled Parallel Tools. I deleted the network interface from control panel and refreshed to add it back in. I am just out of ideas at this point. Just a side note if I use Airport in Bridged mode it works thus it has to do specifically with my Hard wired ethernet adapter. Windows 7 Macbook Pro Unibody Lion
To be able to function, some specifig network configuration (on switches/routers) is required. So, bridged networking is not guaranteed to work in all environments..
Elric, You are correct but in this case no bridged networking is working. Here are some examples of what I mean. 1. Mac Ethernet and Parallels Ethernet set to Dynamic. Both get dynamic addresses. Mac works and Parallels doesn't 2. I am in the office and I know our network is setup like 192.168.1.1-255 - 255.255.255.0. I know that one of the servers is 192.168.1.7 and I can ping it from anywhere on the network, including my mac. I setup my bridged connection as 192.168.1.30 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and I cannot ping my server. It is like the network connection is dead. Dynamic and static both fail. Only Shared works. Please help..... Thanks Thom
Since I could not really find any info out on the net I decided to download Onyx and ran every cleaning maintenance scripts it had. It appeared to somehow fix my problem. Well at least for now.....
Somehow I have two logins but both are me.... Guess that is what happens when you own a work and home copy of parallels...
