I'd be grateful for some help.

I've set up a new virtual machine with Windows 98 as the guest on a Mac OS 10.8.2

It seems to work, though the mouse is very jerky and difficult to use. At some random time (within 10 mins average 5) after I boot up the mouse simply freezes and I have to stop the machine before, reboot and restart programs to before i can continue.

I'm using it to play a legacy game which does not work on later versions of windows.

Another niggle is that I have put the virtual machine into full screen mode and cannot get it back out. When booting I'm told to use Cmd + Esc but nothing happens if I use it.

Windows 98 is no longer supported by Parallel, though they did tell me they would email me text files to help within 10 minutes, but they have failed to do so.

    Thanks for the help

    Andrew

    1) Try reinstalling Parallels Tools to help with the mouse problem.

    2) For full screen, the default keystroke to get out of it is command-control-f (or command-option-f, one or the other; I forget).

    Still no joy

There is no option to reinstall Parallel tools in the virtual machine menu for my Windows 98 Guest. It is also not visible within the guest OS install/uninstall programs. I used the article http://kb.parallels.com/4841 to see what to do.

The key combinations dont work either. I had seen them mentioned and tried them. One produces the find window which then freezes, and the other does nothing.

This is a new installalation of windows 98 as a guest and I used the defaults with some extra memory and video, but not too much!!

My longstanding Windows 7 guest works fine (except for some interference with the printer)

    Thank you

Much of the website seems to say that Parallel Tools is not for Windows 98

I have set up the CD in the Guest Windows 98 as the image file for tools

Was not sure whether it should be the Mac or the windows file. The mac file has a directory structure but its empty of files when viewed through the windows 98 guest. The windows tools file shows as an empty audio cd.

    So no joy there

I have managed now a couple of times to get the windows 98 guest to disconect the mouse so that the parallels toolbar comes up and I can exit full screen. Its a bit random though.

    Thanks Andrew

    Some Joy

No helpful replies back at all from request

Have found that if I dont change the size of the the window that Windows 98 runs in at boot up, then the mouse moves smoothly. It still freezes, but not as often.

    Hopefully this will help others.
