Ok, so I'm setting up my supervisor's brand new 24" aluminum iMac, 2.8 GHz Core 2 duo, 3 gb RAM. She's decided to make the switch from a 17 HP Media centre laptop. I install Parallels and activate it no problem. The I install Parallels transporter on the HP and run the migration and everything goes ok. here's the problem: When I start up her migrated Windows XP (SP2) Media Centre on the iMac under Parallels, it says Windows must be activated before logging in. I assume this is normal, as we just changed hardware. I follow the activation Wizard, choosing online activation and choosing not to register with Microsoft at this time. I get to the screen where it says checking for connectivity... and it stops The iMac is connected to our wireless N network and I tried both shared and bridged networking under Parallels and still no luck. I can't start Windows to install Parallels tools. I know Windows is getting to the internet because it downloaded some Windows updates. I also tried connecting it through Ethernet and still no luck. I am unable to get past the "Checking for Connectivity" screen. Any thoughts, anyone? thanks in advance, Scott
Hi Scott, My problem is exactly as yours, I even cannot access http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.msn.com by Internet Explorer, while at the same time I can open Yahoo! and Google website. More interesting, I can open http://www.msn.com from the Host (Leopard). On VM, I do 'ping' command to msn.com, and it is Request Timed out, but succesfully from the Host (via Terminal). Need help.
