I have a BootCamp installation of Windows XP on an iMac running Mountain Lion (installed when the iMac ran Snow Leopard).

I used to have VMWare Fusion but changed to Parallels 8 when there was a recent offer. I have Parallels set to use the BootCamp installation

I am finding that every time I run XP under Parallels I get told "the hardware has changed. Windows requires reactivation" (or words to that effect). I was expecting that the first time I used Parallels, and possibly also if I used the physical BootCamp partition in between uses of Parallels.

But it occurs every time. I have just tested this by running Parallels, being asked to reactivate, shutting down Windows, restarting Parallels immediately and once again being asked to reactivate. Fortunately the reactivation has been easy so far.

So how can I get rid of these requests for reactivation. Ideally I will be able to use both virtual and actual installations without being asked for reactivation.

On a related issue, does anyone know if it is possible to install XP under BootCamp on the newest Macs. I know Apple does not support this under Mountain Lion, but that there are hacks to install on some machines that come with Mountain Lion. But I am unsure about very new Macs (say a new Mac Mini or a MackBook Pro).
