    Hi,

I am testing RC2 of Parallels and I used my BootCamp partition a lot of times, booting from parallels and booting via BootCamp. Herefor I have two Hardware-Profiles (BootCamp and Parallels), so my activation makes no problem.

Now I have the following problem, when booting from Parallels, NOT when booting via BootCamp:
I log in as some user (no difference if normal boot mode or "abgesicherter modus", no difference if administrator or normal user) and I get
    - nothing else to see
    - a blank error popup (no title, no text, just the red cross icon)
    - just an ok button

If I click on OK I get a logout.

Thanks for any help, to be honest: dont know if its an windows or parallels issue.

    Thanks, Matthias

PS: I also tried to delete the old hardware profile for parallels and creating a new one when booted directly. Same error.

    Hi, blindzero

I've face to exactly the same situation and still could not find any way out for
    this issue....
I've used RC2 and it was fine, but one day my Windows XP sp2 in Boot Camp Partition
was crashed when I used it through Parallels Desktop RC2.
Just after that, I've got that strange dialog after I log in and nothing I can do but just
leaving to Login screen. I could not find any solution for this yet.

If I boot from Boot Camp, it is fine and no problems, I can login and work on it.

I would be really appreciated if some one help me, too....

both of these issues should be tested again using RC3 3170 then submitted to beta@parallels.com if they continue to be an issue.

    Dear B and S..

Good morning to you and I'm using 3106 and had simular issue..in window - run control userpasswords2 and select a user name you want to login as and uncheck "User Must enter a user name ..." system will prompt you for password.... some reason parallels was not able handle or able to wait for that login prompt and crashed....
    Good luck

    Dear leejsci,

    Thank you for your advise.
I've changed user login mode using "control passwords2" to login-panel-free mode.
When I boot from Boot Camp, it's fine and worked.
But I boot from RC3, it still failed and show same "unknown" dialog windows.
It is as blindzero wrote, "no title, no text, just the red cross icon" dialog window.

It seems it is not an issue of timeout of Parallels Tools.
It seems it comes from more essential issues of new version of Parallels Tools come with RC3.

I wish Parallels teams solve this issue sooner, otherwise I have to boot Windows from
    Boot Camp.

    Regards
    Spiky

I've tried 3188 released on Mar 7, but this issue was not solved unfortunatelly.
3188 still show small dialog windows with window close button, cross in red circle,
and [ok] button but no other messages on it, just after I log in windows.

If I boot from boot camp, there's no problem.

So it is clear that Parallel Tools caused this issue.

    This is very severe problem....

I'm getting the same issue, slightly annoying, just a tad.

I've had the same issue for a while with 3188, a previous version to which I temporarily downgraded and now with Parallels Desktop 3.0.

I sent a bug report to Parallels a month ago with a description and screenshot of the problem but never got a response.

Interestingly I can log on to Windows Safe Mod but NOT Safe Mode with Networking. I tried removing the virtual interface from the VM but this didn't help. I suspect that there's some Windows service which starts up and causes the problem but I haven't been able to isolate it.

Meanwhile the Bootcamp installation does work in VMware Fusion.

There might be some hope folks.

Today I upgraded to parallels desktop 3.0 build 4124. Unfortunatly just doign so didnt make it work.

Then I uninstalled Parallels from the uninstall icon in the dmg file. Reinstalled it and voilà! It worked.
Note that even if I uninstalled Parallels, the VM I had linked to bootcamp was still there after having reinstalled Parallels and I just had to start it to see it worked.

I hope you guys will succeed by trying it.
