I installed windows ME under the latest build of parallels. I installed from an .iso and booted using a virtual boot disk. The .iso worked fine when I was installing, but after the install finishes, the cdrom is gone, or at least not showing up in explorer. There is no cd whether I choose iso file or the actual drive.

I have tried changing the settings under parallels. I have also tried deleting the the hard drive controller under device manager. I have tried searching for devices as well. Nothing is working.

BTW, I have an iMac 2.4 ghz and the cdrom works fine on my XP VM.

Same Problem with Windows ME (CD-ROM won't mount)

I've migrated a Windows ME installation from an eMachine to Parallels. Unfortunately, I cannot get any CD-ROM to mount (but when I boot from CD-ROM, it's OK). Anyone have any suggestions?

My next question will be... where do I get the WinME compatible drivers to support parallels ethernet card and video?

Installation of the parallels tools worked for me. Of course without the cdrom working, you cannot use the standard method of installing from the parallels menu. I had to mount the vmtools.iso in mac, and copy them to the windows me hard drive.
