I don't use Windows often. I first noticed that the Start button stopped working about a month ago. I put it away figuring someone would fix it, but after updating both Parallels and Windows today, it's still broken. The only thing I could find was a reference to resetting the entire system which will uninstall all of my applications, I can't do that. How do I fix this problem?
Hi, I'm unable to follow these instructions because nothing happens when I click on the Notifications icon.
Yesterday I loaded the latest Windows 10 updates followed by a Parallels update. Windows then reloaded the Parallels Tools and surprise surprise my Windows Start Menu failed again. KB123375 fixes the issue but this has been happening for a long time and I am getting sick of fixing it. Why can't Parallels and/or Microsoft fix it.
The solution I found was to reinstall Windows 10. It took a while, but did not delete any of my files or uninstall my programs. I was able to do this because, luckily, I had installed Chrome and pinned it to my task bar, so I was able to go to this web site to get the installer: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/
This issue is still occuring for me. I reinstalled Windows 10 to solve the issue. The KB article mentioned here is too cumbersome as a workaround http://kb.parallels.com/123375. Is there no permanent fix to the Start menu issue?
Hi ThomasL5, The issue which you reported is due to Windows user profile corruption. Microsoft is currently working on a resolution for this issue.
This one of the common bugs since from Windows 10 OS last. While this problem is not happening with all Windows 10 OS users. I had also suffered from the same for the first time I installed the OS. You can simply re-install the Windows 10 to solve the problem.
