I'm a new switcher running Parallels 4.0 (3540) on a MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.5. I just installed Windows XP in the Parallels VM, and now Windows "takes over" any CD/DVD that is put in the machine. For example, I just put in the OS X DVD, and instead of the dialog box in OS X, I got a dialog in the Windows VM with a couple of options (one was about the MacBook Air). I closed that dialog, but then the DVD drive isn't shown on the Mac's desktop, and I can't get to the DVD from the Mac side (for example if I wanted to install XCode). So, I want the /option/ of having a CD be used by the Windows session (I'm going to install SQL tools in a bit, e.g.), but I don't want it to automatically takeover. Is this an autorun issue, a Parallels issue, or something else, and how do I fix it? Thanks!
OK, thanks. I assumed OS X would get priority on the CD/DVD (this is a Mac, after all), so I didn't think that was necessary. If that's how it works, that's what I'll do! Thanks again.
