I've been trying all day to do an Express Install of XP Pro into Parallels Desktop 3.0 (5160) on a MacBook Pro (2.4, 4GB, 10.5), but every time the Windows installation fails with an error: "Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error Message: The device is not ready." The install has even triggered two kernel panics of 10.5. I've rebooted/uninstalled/cleaned up/repaired permissions/rebooted/reinstalled at least twice, but the result is the same. I'm creating an ISO (dmg) of my XP install disc now to see if that helps. Anyone run into this? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks in advance, Bobby
News flash... Creating a disk image with Disk Utility seems to have resolved the problem. I'm guessing that Parallels Desktop under Leopard lets the CD spin down during a lull in the XP installation and doesn't spin it back up as quickly as the XP installer expects; but that's just a guess. Anyway, I seem to FINALLY be on track to putting Parallels Desktop to use. Hopefully, this will help someone else. All the best, Bobby
