    Hi,

maybe I'm just being dense, but i'm having a real problem with getting Guest OS internet access.

    Hardware: HP Compaq nx9005 laptop
    Host OS: Windows XP
Guest OS: Linux - Fedora Core 5

I use a Broadcom wireless network adaptor to access the internet in Windows XP. I would like the Guest OS to use this device to access the internet also...I have tried several methods to no avail.

    Host-Host Networking:
This works fine between Host and guest, but there is not internet access for the Guest OS.

    Bridged-Network:
This does not work correctly. I select the Broadcom from the Network Adaptor Options and it gives me the RTL8029 for Virtual Ethernet Adaptor Settings.
When in FC5, it recognises the RTL8029 ok, but there is no link activity!
---Can Someone explain why this is? ---

Host-Host Networking, with Windows XP Bridge:
In Windows XP it's possible to create a network bridge for Cabled Ethenet to access the Router via the wireless connection. This took a little tweak to set the Wireless connection to ForceCompatibilityMode, and all works ok.
The snag with this is when I add the Parallels Host-Guest connection with the Wireless connection to the MAC bridge Miniport, I recieve an error message from Parallels on Guest OS boot: "ApiInit: Cannot allocate buffer for packets".

Host-Host Networking, with Windows XP ICS:
This was the last chance saloon before asking on the forum for some help...Simply in Windows XP I set the Wireless Connection for ICS (suggestions have said the Mac OS X Airport ICS works) but alas this did not work.
FC5 booted ok and the RTL8029 was not able to access the Host OS nor the internet.

Can anyone provide some solution for my situation, or point me in the right direction. :D
    Thanks in advance,

    Stu Gerrard

Please check latest Parallels Workstation 2.2 Beta - number of bugs with bridging to WiFi were fixed there.

    Networking in PW 2.2

Ok. I have read almost all the post about getting FC5 guest OS to work on an XP host machine. I can't seem to get mine to work

I rarely use my ethernet card, so I'm always connected thru the wireless card (intel pro 3945)
but I just can't get online in FC5. It says no network device found. It is seeing the default RTL realtek
    eth0 but that's not what I want.

    Can anyone please help me?

    Thanks alot.

    Hey Stug --
I was wondering if you had to do any tweaking with your internet connection or parallel VM of FC5 to get the wireless to work. I have PW 2.2 installed on my XP and no luck at all for over a wk now.

    Any help will be appreciated.
