I just bought a new iMac - one of the reasons was the ability to run some Windows apps that don't have a Mac equivalent under Parallels 5. I have a Windows XP Upgrade CD and a Windows NT Workstation CD. When I created the Parallels 5 VM for Windows and try to install the XP upgrade, it gets to the point where it wants the original Windows NT CD but reports that it cannot read the CD, even though I can read the CD on the Mac desktop. What can I do to proceed? Thanks! Larry
Finally resolved this issue and wanted to share the results. First, I believe that the original problem was caused when the Windows XP installer was attempting to read the Windows NT CD without a driver (it was not going through the Parallels interface but attempting to read the disk directly - my iMac could read the disk but the DOS level installation script couldn't). Attempting to install Windows NT Workstation first didn't work either (when I read the fine print I discovered that Windows NT Server is supported but no mention of NT Workstation). I finally broke down and bought a new Windows XP Home license (no need for XP Pro under Parallels) and that worked fine.
