Windows XP keeps starting in full screen

I installed Parallels Desktop last night along with Windows XP Home Edition. I'd like to be able to have the Windows screen startup in a window, not full screen. However, even if I change the resolution in XP to get the size window I want, when I restart XP it automatically readjusts during the startup process to full screen. It will temporarily be in the resolution I want while starting up, but switches to full screen quickly. Is there a parallels (or maybe windows) setting that I can change to make it default to a smaller window?
