Just installed Parallels and tried to install Windows XP (SP2) onto the virtual machine. Windows never completes it's installation. It gets as far as saying "Setup is starting Windows", but then there's an error message that is displayed very briefly before Parallels closes down, but it's there for such a short time that I can't see it! I have tried booting from the disk, the hard drive and an ISO image. The windows disk is the full version. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Ben
Try to clear Intel Vt-x and Hardware Acceleration in Configuration Editor- Configuration- Options -advanced, if doesn't help try another CD, or trial Windows 2003 from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb430831.aspx to make sure where is the problem
Thanks John, but no joy I'm afraid. When you say "clear Intel Vt-x and Hardware Acceleration", do you mean disable them? That's what I tried, but to no avail. I'll try Windows 2003, but I find it strange that my copy didn't work as it is literally brand new and out of the box today. If you have any more ideas I'd like to hear them, but in the mean time I'll have a go at installing Windows 2003 (I'm assuming if I do install it I'll be able to upgrade using my XP disc) Ben
No, you won't be able to upgrade, this test will show where is the problem in Parallels or in Installation CD
Hi John I'm not a very accomplished computer user (new to mac too) so I'm not sure how to go about installing the Windows 2003 trial within Parallels. Any top tips? Ben (Thanks for your help so far)
Same problem I am having the same problem. I managed to take a screenshot of the error before it disappeared though: SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED Technical information: 0x0000006F (0xC0000020, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) I have now tried two different Windows XP disks, and am getting the same error with both. Any suggestions?
