    Hi Folks,
Has anyone installed Service Pak 3 yet on an XP Home Guest OS? Were there any problems associated with the install?

    Thanks,

    Jim

Search the forums, this has been discussed.

Basically, be sure you're running the latest Parallels build (5608) and that Parallels Tools in XP have been upgraded to 5608 also, you have upgraded Boot Camp (if that's the case) to 2.1 (via Apple Software Update). If all the previous is true then you are prepared to upgrade to SP3.

For better clarification on this please use the search function on these forums to search for the relevant topics, as this has been widely discussed before.

Ok, many thanks. I did do a search, perhaps not correctly and never did come up with any threads on the subject.

    Again thanks,

I guess some of this would not really apply in my case, as I am only running my Guest OS XP as a stand alone app and not using bootcamp with it at all.

Would all agree that as long as I have the latest build 5608 which I have, that I could run the windows update and download and install SP3 with not much worry. As long as I have backed up my OS of course?

In case of standalone VM, only requirement, is build 5608, from Parallels side.
and as Microsoft suggests , backup, backup..
