    Hello all,

I have a Windows XP Pro Update edition, and I want to install it on my MacBook Pro. I can't use Boot Camp, because I need to be able to eject the cd. Can I use it in Parallels? I am assuming I can always eject the cd from Mac OS X, while I'm doing the installation within Parallels, right? I just don't want to buy it without knowing for sure.

    Thanks a lot.

yes, so long as you have available a full install cd with a previous MS operating system for it to confirm the upgrade process. See following thread...

    Try this.

Take your old (qualifying) copy of Windows and copy the windows folder from it onto the mac. Then when the upgrade asks for the old cd, redirect it to that folder.

This, BTW is the easy way to handle Windows often inexplicable need for the origingal cd. Copy the necessaries to the HDD and tell it to look there.
