I am currently running WIndows XP in Parallels 6.0, and need to continue to use XP because of other software that I use that is not compatible with newer versions of WIndows. I now want to upgrade my Mac OS to the most current version. If I do that, and upgrade to Parallels 11, will Windows XP still work? If not, what are the alternatives?
Which OS X are you on now? Parallels would not run on the change to mavericks. V10 seems to be the best option.
Hi Donald, Windows XP is compatible with Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac and you can continue to run without making any changes in the settings. While you are installing Parallels Desktop 11, the previous version will be removed automatically.
Good to hear that XP will still work. What version of Mac OS is needed for Parallels 11? I am currently running Mac OS 10.6.8. If a more current version of Mac OS is needed, do I upgrade it first before installing Parallels 11?
Per the reply, and my note above (with no response yet): Good to hear that XP will still work. What version of Mac OS is needed for Parallels 11? I am currently running Mac OS 10.6.8. If a more current version of Mac OS is needed (which I believe is the case), do I upgrade it first before installing Parallels 11? I plan to proceed to upgrade to OS El Capitan. Besides backing up everything before I upgrade, are there any procedures, issues, etc. I should be aware of? If I understand this correctly, I should be able to do the Mac and Parallels upgrades without having to re-install Windows XP, Windows dependent software, and with no affect on any of the Windows-related data; is this correct?
Hello, I am sorry to jump on your thread, but I cannot see anywhere on the main forum pages to start a new post. My question is which version of Mac os do I need to install for Parallels 11 to work on my mac. Thanks so much Gwen
