I decided to try out Parallels after hearing about it on the Security Now podcast.Tried the demo on my laptop and bought it last night to permanently install on my desktop. Today my problems started. Here is what is going on.

    Setup:
Host is XP Pro SP2 on Pentium D with 1.5 GB Ram
Netgear wireless router for local network
My problem started right after installing Parallels....even before I installed a guest OS....still have the problem with a guest OS (Win2Kpro).

    Before Parallels installed:
    -clicked on "My Network Places"
    -clicked on "View Workgroup Computers"
-could see host computer and share folders
-could see networked computer and share folders

    Installed Parallels (2.2.2092):
    -clicked on "My Network Places"
    -clicked on "View Workgroup Computers"
-window freezes --> force quit of window --> lose desktop --> few seconds later desktop restarts
-tried disabling the Parallels network adapter but still does not work.

I have looked in the manual and the forums and I cannot find an answer.
-Has anyone else had this problem?
    -How do you fix it?
-Is it a bug that I can expect to be fixed soon?

    more on missing workgroups

If I wait long enough, Windows tells me I can't access my home network shares.

Turned of Zonealarm, and uninstalled Parallels and problem did not go away.

How can installing a program completely wipe out my little home network of shared folders?

    They are back.

The workgroup computers are back for no apparent reason. I am happy again.
